Eligibility
Convocation Members of Convocation who wish to nominate for the position of Warden, Deputy Warden and member of the Council of Convocation must submit a nomination form signed by the candidate and by two other members of Convocation. The form must also contain: (a) the year of the candidate's admission to Convocation; and (b) the candidate's qualifications for membership under Section 17(1) of the University of Western Australia Act 1911. (Statute 9, Clause 63) Senate Statute 12, Clauses 5(2) and 6 also state that: “Each nomination must be in writing signed by the nominee and two persons eligible to vote in the election as proposer and seconder” and “Persons are not eligible for election who— (a) are not of the full age of 21 years; (b) are undischarged bankrupts; (c) are insolvents under administration; (d) have been convicted of an offence and sentenced to imprisonment, unless they have received a free pardon or have undergone the sentence passed upon them; (e) are of unsound mind or are persons whose person or estate is liable to be dealt with in any way under the law relating to mental health; or (f) are not members of Convocation.” All nominations close at 5.00pm on Friday 15th January 2010 |
