Donating to Convocation

Convocation’s mission is to facilitate communication within the graduate community, to meet its Statutory obligations and to provide complementary support for development of the University. To help achieve the latter, donations of any size are very welcome.

In particular, donations are needed for the maintenance of funds to provide for the numerous awards (prizes) that Convocation makes each year. You are encouraged to make donations and/or bequests to particular current awards or to the general fund used for the awards.

The awards given by Convocation are:

• Convocation Postgraduate Research Travel Awards

• Convocation Prizes for Achievement by Undergraduate Students

• Convocation Sports Bursary

• The Matilda Award for Cultural Excellence

• The Sports Star of the Year Award

If you wish to make a donation, or discuss any aspect of the funding of the awards, please contact the Office of Convocation. Donations of more than $2 to the Convocation awards fund are tax deductible, but for donations to be tax deductible the donation needs to be to "The University of Western Australia".

Therefore, cheques for donations must be made to "The University of Western Australia" for tax purposes. However, you can indicate in a letter the purpose to which you would prefer the donation to be allocated.
